Privacy Policy

What we collect

• An account identifier. A book is created before you sign up, so we create an anonymous account for you automatically. It holds no personal information until you choose to add an email address.
• Your email address, if you save your book or buy it. We use it to send you your book and to let you sign in.
• What you write. Everything you type into the story conversation, and the story details we derive from it.
• Photographs you upload as visual references for characters, and the illustrations generated from them.
• Basic technical data such as your IP address and browser, recorded by our hosting provider to serve and secure the site.

How your content is used to make illustrations

This is the part worth reading carefully. To write your story and draw its pictures, we send your story text and any photographs you upload to third-party artificial intelligence providers. Those providers process the content on their own systems in order to return text and images to us.

Requests are routed through OpenRouter, which passes them to the model provider selected for each task. Providers currently include Google, Anthropic, and OpenAI. Their handling of what we send is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, not ours.

Do not upload a photograph you would not be comfortable sending to those providers. If that is a concern, you can skip the photo step for any character and we will illustrate from your written description instead.

Photographs of children

Many people making a book upload photographs of their own children. If you do, you confirm that you are the child's parent or legal guardian, or that you have their guardian's permission.

This service is intended for adults. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information directly from a child. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising. We share it only with the providers that run the service:

• Supabase — stores your account, your stories, your uploaded photographs, and the generated artwork.
• Vercel — hosts and serves the site.
• OpenRouter and the AI providers it routes to — process story text and photographs to generate text and images, as described above.

We may also disclose information if we are legally required to, or to investigate abuse of the service.

Where it is stored, and for how long

Your data is stored on servers in the United States. We keep your books for as long as your account exists, so that you can come back to a book you started. Uploaded photographs and generated artwork are stored privately and are not publicly accessible; they are served to you through short-lived links.

Photographs you upload are deleted automatically. A photograph is used once, to draw that character's reference sheet. As soon as you approve the sheet, we delete the original photograph — the drawing carries the likeness from then on, and we have no reason to keep the picture of a real person.

Your choices

• You can skip the photo step for any character.
• You can ask us for a copy of your data, or ask us to delete your account and everything in it, by emailing kbantadevelopment@gmail.com. Deletion removes your stories, uploads, and generated images, and cannot be undone.
• Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information, including the right to object to certain processing or to lodge a complaint with a regulator.

Cookies

We use cookies that are necessary to keep you signed in and to keep your book attached to you between visits. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
